Bearing the title of the most complex international scientific project in history, and the largest human project sent into space. The International Space Station took over ten years to build and over 30 missions to do it. This machine is a laboratory for new technologies, and a view-port for scientific and environmental research. This permanently occupied outpost is a stepping stone to further space exploration. Circling the Earth every 90 minutes and doing it at 248 miles above Earth, it travels at about 17,500 miles per hour. So, in one day, the ISS travels the distance from Earth to the moon and back. You can see it with a telescope or a night observer who knows when and where to look because it rivals the planet Venus in brightness. 15 countries represented by 5 companies built this 100-billion-dollar project and continue to operate it to this day. This space station is 357.6 feet long, so astronauts have a lot of space. The ISS has the same amount of cubic feet as a Boeing 747. The gross part is that there are only two bathrooms in the station, and all the water is recycled, so the good part is the astronauts never get thirsty. The ISS is very interesting. Arachnids
